Lieutenant David Lansdale got little sleep Friday and Saturday, January 6 and 7.
Just hours before he responded to an armed robbery at Kent’s Travel Center, the Shell Station on the west side of I-35 at Hwy 29 was the victim of an attempted business burglary.
Deputy Lansdale had responded to assist in that burglary investigation before being called back to the same area on the robbery.
At 12:53 a.m., Saturday, Deputy Brian Stuckey was dispatched to a business alarm at the Shell Station. Deputy Stuckey and Wynnewood police officers arrived to find the front glass of the business to be broken.
Upon checking the area following the alarm, Justin Don Loveless, age 25, Paoli, was detained as he was found walking on I-35 north of Highway 29 around 2 a.m. Evidence gathered at the scene and statements made by Loveless linked him to the attempted burglary.
Video surveillance evidence retrieved at the station showed the subject making numerous attempts to break the front glass using a concrete block; however the window was only broken and never shattered.
Nothing was taken from the business. An estimated $500.00 in damage was done at the store.
The robbery at Kent’s and the burglary attempt are not believed to be related other than the same individuals own the two businesses.
Loveless was booked into the Garvin County Detention Center on charges relating to the burglary attempt.
Loveless was out on bond and awaiting a court date set for January 13 in Garvin County relating to a 2008 burglary arrest.
