Gail Dean Williams

 

Gail Dean Williams, aka Gayle Dean, was born February 21, 1932 and passed away at home surrounded by her family on July 13, 2012 in Palm Springs, California due to complications from heart disease.

 

Gayle will be remembered as the sultry lounge singer who often appeared at clubs like Jimmy’s in Beverly Hills, The Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach, and Melvyn’s in Palm Springs. She also performed with Ronnie Brown and his orchestra and keyboardist Paul Schaffer.

 

In 1997 she released a jazzy rendition of Irving Berlin’s ‘Mr. Monotony’ featuring tenor sax man Pat Rizzo and keyboardist Andy Fraga which is frequently aired on KWXY radio in Palm Springs.

 

Gayle also helped found the Center for Early Education in Beverly Hills; was a member of the Republican Women’s Club; and was active in real estate.

 

Gayle is survived by her sister, Alma Carter of Tulsa Oklahoma; sons, Dey Martin, Kyle Martin; daughter, Andrea Martin of California; and by eleven grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were held at The Church of St. Paul in the Desert located at 125 West El Alameda, Palm Springs, California 92262.
