A Garvin County attorney and municipal judge was arrested on DUI charges last week in Maysville.
The arrest came shortly after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, when Maysville Police Officer Shannon Farnan observed Daniel Sprouse of Pauls Valley traveling eastbound on Highway 19.
In his report, Farnan stated Sprouse was going 53 miles per hour in a 45 zone, thus causing him to stop Sprouse.
Farnan stated that Sprouse was “unsteady on his feet” and had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and there was an odor of alcohol on him or his breath.
“Mr. Sprouse stated he had one drink at about 2130 hours (9:30 p.m.),” Farnan reported.
After failing a field sobriety test on Sprouse, Farnan stated that Sprouse consented to a breath test.
At that time he placed Sprouse under arrest for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and transported him the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office where a breath test was administered.
The breath test revealed Sprouse had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.10, which is above the 0.08 legal limit.
Farnan stated in his report that Sprouse then requested an additional blood test be given him at his own expense.
Sprouse was then transported to Pauls Valley General Hospital where a blood test was collected. The results of that blood test was not made known in court documents.
Sprouse was arraigned later on Wednesday, June 13, where he plead…
Sprouse is a Pauls Valley attorney and is the municipal judge for the City of Pauls Valley and Town of Stratford.
