Stratford Head Start / Prekindergarten Enrollment Set

Pre-enrollment for the Head Start three-year-old program and the four-year-old PreKindergarten program at Stratford Elementary School has been set for Thursday, April 7, at the Chandler Watts Memorial Library conference room.  The library is located across the street from the elementary school.  Enrollment will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 3:00 p.m. that day.  Head Start applications for four-year-old children will be filled out at that time.

If you have a child that will be three years old (Head Start) on or before September 1, or four years old on or before September 1, please enroll your child if at all possible on this date.  We need to have an accurate count of how many students we will have in the fall.  There will be a limited number of Head Start three year old slots.  Also, PreKindergarten students will be enrolled on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Only the first forty children will be guaranteed a place in the PreKindergarten program.  All other children will then be placed on a waiting list.

Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate, social security card, shot records, Sooner Care card (if applicable) and CDIB card (if applicable) to enrollment.  Your child will NOT be able to begin school without the above documents on file, and will take a chance of losing their guaranteed slot in the PreKindergarten program.  If you have any questions, please call the elementary school at 759-2382.

ALSO, if there are children who will be five years old on or before September 1 and DID NOT attend PreKindergarten, they will also enroll on that day for Kindergarten in the elementary office.

Again, it is vital that we have as accurate a count as possible in order to plan teachers for the 2011-2012 school year.  Please make plans to enroll your child on Thursday, April 7, 2011.
