Right now, federal and county authorities have some leads as to who walked into the First American Bank last Saturday morning and walked out with a little over $3,000 after giving the teller waiting on him a note demanding she give him “all the cash in your drawer.”

However, no arrest has been made in the case yet.

“Several persons have called authorities reporting names of persons having a similar appearance of the subject shown in the photos,” said Garvin County Sheriff Larry Rhodes.

Rhodes said several calls were made to the Garvin County Crimestoppers hot line.

“It is common to receive calls following a public release of a photograph of a suspect in a crime.  Each call is being investigated.” Rhodes added.

One subject, Rhodes said, has been ruled out as the bank robber by investigators.

Garvin County Deputy Lieutenant David Lansdale and Captain Travis Crawford spent the majority of the day on Monday continuing to track down leads in the robbery.

“The suspect walked into the bank’s lobby and handed one of the tellers a note, demanding money,” Rhodes told the News Star.

The note, according to the FBI, was handwritten and said, “Give me all the cash in your drawer.”

Rhodes said the suspect produced no weapon and the bank staff and one customer in the bank saw no weapon at the time of the robbery.

The teller, according to Rhodes, gave the suspect approximately $3,879 from her money drawer and he turned and fled out of the bank.

The suspect is described as a heavy set white male between the ages of 25 and 30, and approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall. He was wearing a navy blue Old Navy t-shirt with gray trim, an Olive Drab Green colored baseball cap with a small symbol on the front of the cap and sunglasses.

The FBI, Maysville Police Department and the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the robbery.
