Pauls Valley High School Assistant Principal Brett Knight has been named as the district’s next superintendent.

The Pauls Valley Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Knight as superintendent during a special meeting Thursday evening.

District administrators, faculty and staff crowded into the board meeting room to hear the announcement, breaking out in a round of applause as soon as the board adjourned.

“This has been home for my family going on six years now,” Knight said. “I’m excited and looking forward to what the future holds. We’re already looking at long-term planning and what we can to do to continue to move the district forward.”

Knight was one of several applicants for the position, and one of three applicants interviewed by board of education members in a series of special meetings over the last two weeks.

Knight has been employed with the district for six years and has held the position of assistant high school principal for the last three years. He completed his doctoral degree in education administration and leadership last fall.

Knight will step into the role of superintendent July 1, replacing outgoing superintendent Adam McPhail.
